Happy Tree Cards is changing the way teams celebrate together.
We help organisations send thoughtful digital group cards for birthdays, work anniversaries, leavers, welcomes and other meaningful moments, without the admin headache of paper cards, scattered contributions, or missed delivery dates. Our platform combines beautiful design with modern collaboration tools, delivery tracking, reminders, media uploads, and workplace-ready controls. For organisation customers, we also offer shared credits, centralised billing, custom covers, AI moderation, audit logs, and priority support.
Founded in 2021, we are building a product that sits at the intersection of employee experience, workplace culture, and practical software. We are now looking for a Director of Sales to turn strong product-market resonance into a repeatable, scalable commercial engine.
The role
As Social Media Manager, you will own and evolve Happy Tree Cards’ organic social presence. You will create a content engine that helps us reach the right audiences, especially HR teams, People leaders, executive assistants, office managers and growing organisations looking for a better way to celebrate their people.
This is not a generic “post three times a week” role. We need someone who understands how to build a distinctive brand in a crowded market, translate product benefits into sharp social content, and turn seasonal moments, workplace culture trends and customer stories into attention and action.
You will shape the strategy, create and publish content, manage the calendar, spot opportunities in the cultural and workplace conversation, and use performance data to improve what we do. You should be as comfortable writing a sharp LinkedIn post for People teams as you are briefing a short-form video, repurposing customer proof, or building a campaign around key calendar moments such as birthdays, work anniversaries, onboarding, farewells and appreciation days.
What you’ll be doing
Own Happy Tree Cards’ social media strategy and day-to-day execution.
Lead our organic presence, with particular focus on LinkedIn and other channels relevant to our audience.
Build a content plan that speaks to our core audiences: HR, People Ops, executive assistants, office managers, team leaders and organisations with distributed or hybrid teams.
Create content that balances brand storytelling, product education, seasonal relevance, customer proof and commercial intent.
Turn product features into compelling content themes, including workplace-ready controls, delivery tracking, reminders, video messages, moderation features, custom covers and shared organisation credits.
Develop campaigns around key workplace and celebration moments throughout the year.
Work with the founder and wider team to extract ideas, product updates, customer insight and brand stories.
Write copy that is clear, warm, witty where appropriate, and unmistakably on-brand.
Grow engagement, reach and follower quality rather than chasing vanity metrics.
Build a repeatable content workflow for social assets, short-form video, customer stories, testimonials, product clips and thought-leadership posts.
Monitor trends, competitor activity and audience conversations to identify timely opportunities.
Track performance, report on results and use insight to refine strategy.
Support broader brand and content initiatives, including launches, partnerships, PR moments and campaign amplification.
What we’re looking for
Proven experience in a social media role, ideally for a SaaS, tech, startup, ecommerce or digitally-led brand.
Strong grasp of organic social strategy, content planning and channel growth.
Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to switch between brand, product and performance-led messaging.
A good eye for visual storytelling and content packaging.
Strong understanding of the kind of audiences we need to reach: HR, People teams, EAs, office managers, operations leads and business decision-makers.
Experience turning product features into benefits-led, audience-specific content.
Confidence working in a fast-moving environment with a high degree of ownership.
Commercial instinct: you understand that good social should build awareness and contribute to pipeline, not just look busy.
Comfortable using analytics to assess what is landing and what needs to change.
Organised, proactive and full of ideas, but grounded enough to prioritise what will actually move the needle.
You’ll stand out if you have
Experience marketing to HR, People Ops, workplace culture or team engagement audiences.
Experience in a startup or founder-led business.
Confidence on camera or experience directing short-form video content.
Experience building a social presence for a brand with both B2B and consumer appeal.
A feel for seasonal, celebratory and workplace culture content without becoming cheesy or predictable.
What success looks like
In this role, success will look like stronger brand recognition, a clearer and more distinctive voice, better engagement from the right audiences, and a social presence that helps more teams discover Happy Tree Cards when they need a better way to celebrate people.
You will help us become the brand people think of when an HR team wants something more polished than a paper envelope, when an executive assistant needs a reliable group card for a leaving do, or when a growing organisation wants celebration tools that actually fit modern working.
