How to Link Slack to Your Organisation

Connect Slack to Happy Tree Cards so your team can invite colleagues to sign organisation cards through private Slack messages. Slack integration is available to organisations on Professional and Unlimited plans.

Before you start

  • You must be an administrator of your Happy Tree Cards organisation to connect or disconnect Slack.

  • Your organisation must be on a Professional or Unlimited plan.

  • You may need permission from your Slack workspace to approve and install apps.

1. Open Organisation Settings

Sign in to Happy Tree Cards and open Organisation Settings . Scroll to the Integrations section, where you will see Slack and your current connection status.

If Slack is unavailable, check that your organisation has a Professional or Unlimited subscription and that you are signed in as an organisation administrator.

2. Select Connect Slack

Select Connect Slack. You will be taken securely to Slack to choose a workspace and review the permissions requested by Happy Tree Cards.

The integration uses these permissions to find eligible workspace members, open private conversations, and send card-signing invitations with a card thumbnail. Happy Tree Cards does not post invitations to public channels.

3. Approve the connection in Slack

Choose the correct Slack workspace, review the details and approve the connection. If your workspace restricts app installations, Slack may ask a workspace administrator to approve it first.

After approval, Slack returns you to Organisation Settings. A Slack Connected message confirms that your organisation can now invite Slack users to sign cards, and the integration shows the connected workspace name.

4. Invite colleagues to sign a card

Once Slack is connected, any active member of your Happy Tree Cards organisation can send invitations for eligible organisation cards.

  1. 1.

Open My Cards and find an unsent organisation card.

  2. 2.

    Select Invite to Sign.

  3. 3.

Choose one or more colleagues from the searchable Slack list.

  4. 4.

Select Send Invite or Send Invites.

Each selected colleague receives a private Slack message containing the card thumbnail and signing link. The card's primary and secondary recipients are excluded from the list so they are not invited to sign their own card.

Reconnect Slack

If Organisation Settings shows Reconnect Slack, select it and approve the connection again. Reconnecting refreshes the permissions used to send invitations and card thumbnails without changing your Happy Tree Cards organisation.

You may also be asked to reconnect when Slack permissions have changed or an invitation cannot be sent with the existing connection.

Disconnect Slack

An organisation administrator can open Organisation Settings, select Disconnect beside Slack and confirm the choice. Your organisation will no longer be able to send Slack card-signing invitations, but your cards and existing signatures are not affected.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection expired or failed: return to Organisation Settings and select Connect Slack again. Complete the Slack approval promptly, as an unfinished connection cannot be reused later.

  • Reconnect required: ask an organisation administrator to select Reconnect Slack in Organisation Settings.

  • A colleague is missing: only active human Slack users with an email address are listed. Card recipients are intentionally excluded.

  • An invitation fails: try again once. If only some invitations were sent, retry the unsuccessful colleagues rather than resending the whole group.

You can always use the card's Share Link option if Slack is unavailable.
